Police Misconduct & Brutality

Law enforcement officers are sworn to protect and serve our communities, yet every year an increasing number of citizen complaints are being filed against officers for police misconduct and brutality.  Citizens continue to suffer physical and mental injuries due to the use of excessive force by the police.  You need to contact an attorney if you or your loved one has been subjected to any of the following:

Deadly or Excessive Force
Police Misconduct
False Arrest
Unfair or Overly Harsh Treatment

While everyone has heard of the high profile police brutality case such as “Rodney King,” there are thousands of cases against American citizens that never receive media attention.  When a police officer abuses a citizen, it is an attack on the injured citizen as well as society as a whole. The people we depend on to protect us from criminal aggressors should never be the aggressors themselves.

Police misconduct and police brutality cases can range from false arrest, and sexual abuse, to excessive and unnecessary physical force, or verbal abuse.

Police misconduct and police brutality remains a serious problem in the United States.  Although police officers receive special training designed to allow them to view the world objectively, they are human beings just like everyone else who over time can become arrogant and/or develop a false sense of superiority.

The law provides that any person working under the authority of a state law enforcement agency who harms and injures a citizen are responsible to pay for any damages they cause.

If you or someone you care about has been a victim of police misconduct or policed brutality, call us today and discuss your experience with an understanding attorney. Nobody should have to suffer unfair treatment at the hands of our police officers. Your decision to fight for justice may result in protecting others from similar abuse and obtaining compensation for your suffering.

Resisting Arrest Charges (Penal Code 148)

Citizens often are accused of resisting arrest charges in an effort to cover up for false arrest or excessive force against the citizen.  In those circumstances, the police officer serves as the complaining witness in the case. They often accuse the citizen of interfering with there ability to do their job.

The crime of resisting arrest is charged frequently and is not a minor charge. It carries serious implications and penalties.  We will thoroughly probe the circumstances of the arrest, questioning the arresting officer (complainant) down to the last detail.  Often times, the person wasn't really resisting or the police were using the charge to cover up their own bad acts.  We will work to bring the true facts to light so that you are not convicted of a charge that never should have been brought in the first place.

Here, at the Tiemann Law Firm we are prepared to fight and win your criminal case, and then to prosecute the police who prosecuted you.
