Tow Truck Driver Killed by Semi Truck Hit-and-Run Driver in Sacramento

Bower (29 years old) was killed by a suspected hit and run truck driver after his own tow truck broke down on a Sacramento downtown freeway. Friends and family of tow truck driver Michael Bower say he was wonderful family man who worked hard in supporting his family. 

Bower’s wife Jaime is pleading for anyone to come forward who might have seen the truck accident in Sacramento. She said Michael was a great father and loved his family.

Unfortunately there are no reported witnesses to the accident as reported by the CHP. Bower’s body was found after a CHP stopped to investigate the stranded tow truck on the side of the road. At this point they can only suspect that a semi truck hit him because of the severity of the damage to Bower.

Pedro Leon, a CHP spokesman, said it is probable that the truck driver that hit him wasn’t even aware of the incident but doubts that any reasonable person would not notice damage to the front of their truck.

Bower’s boss, Octavio Portugal, said he came upon the accident scene after he reportedly went back to check on him after his truck had broken down. When he got there, there were emergency vehicles at the truck accident scene.

Portugal was very emotional that night as he was the last person to see Bower right before the truck accident. There is a memorial fund set up for the family and donations are being accepted on behalf of Michael Bower.

If anyone saw the truck accident, in Sacramento, the CHP is asking that you please contact them. The accident happened around 8:40pm on Monday night.
